On October 22 2017 DP students and science teachers realized a very interesting investigation/the Group 4 Project/ within the framework of science in Dilijan’s National Park.
The group 4 project is a collaborative activity where our students from different group 4 subjects work together on a scientific topic, allowing for concepts and perceptions from across the disciplines to be shared in line with aim 10.
This project allowed the DP students to appreciate the environmental, social and ethical implications of science and technology, discover the biochemical properties of the forest’s soil along the river and far from the river in the deep of the forest, as well as the biodiversity of the forest and different physical characteristics of the forest.
It also allowed them to understand the limitations of scientific study, for example, the shortage of appropriate data and/or the lack of resources. The emphasis is on interdisciplinary cooperation and the processes involved in scientific investigation, rather than the products of such investigation.
Overall, this trip was a fun way to get acquainted with the Group 4 guidelines for the future and also helped kickstart our CAS journey for the upcoming 2 years.
